Y’ALL! I GOT A JOB OFFER LAST WEEK! I’N SO EXCITED THAT I HAD TO JUST JUMP STRAIGHT INTO IT!
You read that right!! After 115 days of job hunting and waiting for the right thing to come along, I finally, FINALLY got a job offer. Remember that exciting news I mentioned in the post last week? Well, said exciting news was a job interview and I didn’t want to jinx it in case I didn’t get it! I’m so, so glad I believed in myself and did some prep before the interview because I truly think it paid off in the end. That, and having great references that put in a good word for me. Y’all know who you are!!
SO! Here’s some more info about my new job that I start this upcoming Monday the 17th. I’ll be working as a part-time Library Assistant at one of the city library branches. I’ll be assisting the branch manager with the set-up and promotion of events, helping patrons check out books and get library cards, and overall just helping with whatever the librarians need. I think this is a great stepping stone into my ultimate goal of becoming a librarian myself. After being a volunteer at the central library bookstore for a couple of months, I’ve really leaned into the idea of just helping people and being a friendly face for those to visit the library. Libraries are such an important part of every community, and I’ve wanted to be a part of that for some time now. So, the current plan is getting a Master’s degree in Library Science and enroll in a program within a year. I think this new job will be perfect for many reasons, but I’ll be getting real-time librarian experience while being in school. I couldn’t ask for a better situation to have ended up in!!
All I want to say to y’all is this - trust the process. Trust yourself and really listen to what your heart and soul is telling you to do. Let your intuition guide you into the path you’re meant to be on, because I fully believe the Universe has a unique path for each of us. I knew the right thing would be coming along eventually - I just had to have the patience to get there. I hope that for any of you who are still unsure of where you’re meant to be can learn from my experience and truly figure out what you’re passionate about, even if you’re not currently in a role that suits you. It requires some bravery and courage, but it’s a small, temporary discomfort that is truly worth your long-term happiness and fulfillment in the end.
With all of that being said, because of my new job and the holidays quickly approaching (seriously, how did we get here so fast?!) I don’t know if I’ll be maintaining my schedule of writing a blog post once a week. I might do a bi-weekly schedule until I settle down in my new role and after the holidays end, or I might keep that indefinitely. We’ll see! But for now, the plan is to publish one or two more posts and then going dark for a while to spend time with family. Don’t worry, though! I’ll be back and ready to give you all of the exciting new updates about my new job and life!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for being here for me during a really uncertain, dark time in my life. It means more to me than you’ll ever know. Being able to express myself through writing has been incredibly therapeutic and having this blog is extremely rewarding. I’m so grateful for my little corner of the internet and for y’all reading my posts each week. I love y’all very much, and I’ll see you soon!!
Much love,
Grace, newest Library Assistant :)
